CheckeredFlag2014 Crate Late Model Rules:
RACE RECEIVERS:
  1. All drivers are required to have operating "raceivers" in proper working condition, channeled to the track's frequency, with fresh batteries.
  2. Mandatory for every division.  You must have one.  Every car will be routinely checked for one.  Make sure you have batteries.

CAR AND BODY:

  1. Body to be made by WoO Latemodel's rules.
  2. No mirrors.
  3. No sharp or jagged edges or outward facing fasteners.
  4. Rear window sides panels may be solid or open no more than 40% of the space BUT, the right and left sides must match (right open & left open or both solid).
  5. The front roof support panels must match and the rear support panels must match.
  6.  ALL CARS MUST HAVE ACCEPTABLE TOW HOOKS: one on the front and one on the rear outside the body capable of sustaining the weight of the car when lifted or you will be fined $25.00.

ROLL CAGE:

  1. No Aluminum or Titanium Allowed.
  2. All tubing must be at least 1 1/2 inches and a minimum of .083 inches thick.
  3. Three bars in the driver's side "door" and two bars on the right side are mandatory.
  4. Must have at least a one inch cross member front to back or diagonally that is .083 thick also.
  5. NO Bolt Together Frames For Roll Bars.
SPOILERS:
  1.  No side spoiler.
  2.   Rear spoiler no more than 8-inches above deck.
  3.   Sheet metal deck height must be no higher than 38-inches off ground with tires inflated.
  4.   Rear deck must not exceed the maximum limit at any point across the deck and or spoiler.

WEIGHT:

  1.  MINIMUM 2300 LB. WITH DRIVER AFTER RACE.  (NO EXCEPTIONS.)
  2.  NO ADDED WEIGHT ABOVE DRIVER SHOULDERS ( SAFETY FACTOR).
  3.  WEIGHT MUST BE BEHIND FRONT AXLE AND NO FURTHER BACK THAN FUEL CELL AND SECURELY FASTENED TO FRAME.

MUFFLERS:     Optional but highly recommended with exhaust to outside of body with no turn down.

TIRES:     1100 Series.......15 inch Late Model 1100 series tire.  The Fastrak approved tire, Rush approved tire, or the American Racer 44, 48 tire.

WHEELS:

  1. Maximum 14 inch Steel or Aluminum ONLY - NO Exotic Materials - NO Carbon Fiber Rims.
  2. Bead locks are permitted.
  3. Wheel Covers are permitted and must have three working fasteners.
  4. MUST HAVE FIVE (5) LUG NUTS SECURING WHEEL MANDATORY.

CARBURETOR:

  1. Any 750 CFM  carb or smaller.
  2. Must have 1 11/16ths base plate maximum.
  3. Maximum venture measurement 1.375.
  4. Billet plate may be used (.780) Maximum.
  5. CARB SPACER: 604-1 inch maximum. 602-2 inch maximum.  Spacer may not protrude into intake at any point.
  6. One gasket per surface of .070 maximum.
  7. Normal aspirated carburetor only.
  8.  NO NITROUS OXIDE, NO FUEL INJECTION, NO TURBOS,  NO AEROSOL CARBS., NO SUPER CHARGERS.
  9. Two throttle springs are permitted and highly recommended.

ENGINES:

  1. Engine and all parts of the engine must remain as is from the builder/"factory" and have proper seals in place.
  2. Marion Center Speedway reserves the right to use our discretion as to whether an engine is true "crate" engine or has been modified and how much of an inspection is necessary to determine the authenticity of the engine.

BATTERIES:

  1.  Batteries must be securely fastened and provisions made to prevent leakage of acid in case of roll over or damage.
  2.  A "master" battery disconnect switch must be mounted in cockpit of the car within the drivers reach and easily accessible by the driver.

DRIVE SHAFT:

  1. Drive shaft hoop is mandatory.
  2. Carbon Fiber, Aluminum, and Steel Drive Shafts are permitted.

STARTERS:

  1. Must be working conditions at all times.
  2. Cars must start and run under their own power.
  3.  Must have working reverse. 
FUEL:
  1. VP Racing Fuel and E-85 racing fuels are acceptable.
  2. NO Performance enhancing additives may be used.

FUEL SYSTEM:

  1. Mechanical push rod fuel pump only.
  2. No electric fuel pumps of any type.

EVACUATION SYSTEMS:

  1. Evacuation systems are illegal, including breather system to oil pan or any other type.

OIL PUMP:

  1. Wet sump only.
  2. No external oil pumps including those "inside" the oil system.
  3. Only one remote oil filter.
  4. One oil cooler permitted.

DISTRIBUTOR:

  1. No Magnetos.
  2. Electronic ignition permittede.
  3. MSD type box permitted.
  4. NO Crank Triggers or devices that allow external adjustment of timing.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES:

  1. No electronic devices are permitted that adjust the shocks from the cockpit of the car.
  2. Traction control devices are illegal.

EXOTIC MATERIALS:

  1. No Titanium.

TRANSMISSION:

  1. In and out box not permitted.
  2. Any transmission made without exotic materials is permitted.
  3. Must have forward and reverse gears.
  4. Automatic Transmissions are permitted.
  5. Air Shifters are not permitted.

REARENDS:

  1. Any standard quick change rearend is acceptable.
  2. No open type (similar to sprint car rearends) are permitted.
  3. No 9 inch Ford or similar rearends are permitted.
  4. No Titanium parts in the rearend even out to the wheel studs.

BRAKES:

  1. Must have four wheel braking system in working condition.
  2. Must have magnetic rotors; Carbon Fiber or ther non-magnetic rotors are illegal.
SHOCKS:
  1. Adjustable shocks are legal as long as they are not electronically adjustable from the cockpit of the car.
  2. External canister shocks are permitted.

SAFETY:

  1. Seat belt dating must not exceed two (2) years old.
  2. Seat belts must be bolted to frame (not to floor) and pass inspector's approval.
  3. Shoulder harness is required.
  4. Only seat belt with quick release mechanism allowed.
  5. A bucket seat with padded headrest higher than driver's head (racing type) is recommended and should be secured (bolted) to frame (not to floor) and roll cage high and low.
  6. Hans Device, Hutchens and/or similar safety restraint system is suggested.
  7. A quick release Steering Wheel is mandatory.
  8. Batteries are not allowed in Driver's Compartment.
  9. FIRE SUITS of one or two piece ARE REQUIRED (YOU MUST WEAR ONE).
  10. Racing gloves and shoes are suggested - NO Plastic Gloves.
  11. Only racing type helmet with full-race shield should be worn.  Helmets that have fire resistant interior-Snell 2005 and up are recommended.
  12. A full metal firewall must be installed between driver and engine, and between fuel tank and driver.  The driver's compartment MUST be completely enclosed.
  13. Fuel tank must be securely fastened and must be welded and sealed at top, bottom, and sides.
  14. No 5-gallon containers or converted grease or oil containers may be used as tanks.
  15. Fuel lines run under floor, if not, must be covered and sealed at both ends by rubber hose only.
  16. Fuel cells must be mounted behind the rear end housing between frame rails as is the normal position from the builder and it MUST be Securly Strapped with a minimum of two (2) Steel Straps that are bolted to the Chassis (Frame) Securely locking in the fuel cell.  Straps MUST be at least two (2) inches wide and 1/8 inch thick.  Fuel Cell Must be mounted inside the Fuel Cell Steel Box.  No Part of the Fuel Cell can be below the bottom of the rear housing.
  17. Should have fire extinguisher within driver's reach.

NUMBERS:
  1. Numbers can be of 3 digits and one letter.
  2. No duplicate numbers allowed.
  3. No fractions allowed.
  4. Must be at least 18-inches high and 2-inches wide.
  5. Cars should have 4x4-inch number on the windshield screen.
  6. All numbers must be painted on both sides of the car and on the roof.
  7. All numbers must be visible and legible - contrasting to color of car.  This means don't put a white number on a silver car. 
  8. When a car is registered in the pits, that car can only run that number for that night.  If a car comes with a number already registered, that car will be asked to add a letter.

MISCELLANEOUS:
  1. If you have questions about your car qualifying for these rules, any driver or pit crew member has till 7:00pm to ask tech inspector to check their car.
  2.  The track officials have the authority to inspect any portion of a car subject to rule specifications for that division.
  3. Any and all decisions of the Tech committee as to a car being legal or illegal are final.
  4. All rules are at the discretion of Marion Center Speedway Officials and reserves the right to amend, adjust, change, or delete the rules without notice.


All drivers under the age of 18 MUST have signed waver by parent or guardian, Notarized.

REFER TO THE GENERAL RULES FOR ALL OTHER RULES.

ON THE FIRST NIGHT OF POINTS ALL RULES WILL APPLY!  NO OPEN COMPETITION.

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for events.  The rules shall govern the conduct of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.  No expressed or implied warranty to safety shall result for publication or compliance with these rules and/or regulations.  They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury to the participant, spectator, or official.  The race director shall be empowered to permit deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.  No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specification.  Any interpretation of these rules is left to the discrepancies of the officials.  Their decisions are final.

Anyone causing disturbance at the track such as fighting, blocking the track, etc., will be subject to 1 or 2 week suspension or a fine of $300.00 or both.  They will also be responsible for all physical or property damage from such disturbance to himself or others.  A fine of $300.00 levied and paid before person(s) will be allowed on MARION CENTER SPEEDWAY premises.  Fine payment will be added to the point fund.  The track officials will govern disturbance on a case-by-case basis.

No dogs will be permitted into the pits unless they are service animals only.
